My body of work explores the concept of ‘nonsense’ and why we consider undefined objects as ‘nonsense’. My artwork consists of drawings that look like and/or remind one of something with ‘sense’ but cannot be defined as anything in particular. During my art-making process, I was often asked the question, “what is it?” or “what is it meant to be?”. In this artwork I am asking the audience, does something need to have a meaning or be a particular way in order for it to be classified as ‘sensible’?
I have chosen to present my drawings in a ‘puzzle’ format to encourage the audience to become involved and appreciate ‘nonsense’ without trying to make sense of it. The ‘puzzle’ format also suggested a never ending maze of ‘nonsense’ – the more you try to make sense, the more nonsense you receive.

Lithgow High School		I adopted as a reference point the explorations of sculptural planes in the work of the Russian constructivist Naum Gabo, but in the context of a chess game. The accurate cutting and joining of the various parts to form a coherent whole was demanding; giving the cardboard the appearance of rusted steel was a trial and error process.

Human trafficking is the exploitation of the poor into slavery; it encompasses bribery, corruption, prostitution, exploitation, fraud and abuse. It is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the 'globalised' world. Corruption thrives in this multi-billion-dollar industry. People become marketable products, epitomising the indifference surrounding human trafficking and the inhumane treatment of its victims I want to do a sculpture/ installation so badly

The Scots College		Inspired by the surrealists and the political controversy surrounding the censorship of Bill Henson's photography in 2008, my film explores the impact of censorship upon the imagination of contemporary artists. By appropriating René Magritte's work, the film explores how the surrealists attempted to re-interpret reality through the transcendence of their dreams. We follow a young man wandering through the surreal world of his unconscious mind, while his thoughts are being censored by the regulators of society, symbolising the artistic desire to deny boundaries placed upon it by society’s cultural and political institutions.

My artworks are an exploration, stripping away personal control, allowing art to create itself. I draw on ideas of chaos theory and the butterfly effect, where one small intervention can have a great impact in a dynamical system. I, the artist, control where I lay the ink but let it take its own path down the paper, allowing it to have freedom to fall of its own accord, then expose it to wind and rain. The artworks may look freely chaotic and abstract but on closer inspection reveal the beauty and infinite patterns that appear throughout nature and the universe.

Warners Bay High School		My artwork is about the introduction of the European rabbit into Australia and its destructive effect it has had our environment. I have examined the issue of preserving, preventing or exterminating introduced species. This is important to me because I sympathise with the rabbits. My work relates to personal choices I have made, such as becoming a vegetarian in support of animal rights; yet, I do also understand the value of preserving the natural landscape and indigenous species. Therefore I am left in conflict, just as the audience is left puzzled by the opinions I have expressed.
